A short two-hour drive outside of NYC (well, four hours if you decide to leave in the middle of the day instead of being smart and leaving in the morning), is the charming area of North Fork, LI.

Specifically in Greenport, the beach town is the perfect escape for a weekend getaway- it's essentially the chilled out version of the Hamptons.

Whether you chose to go with some girlfriends or as a romantic vacay, here's what I suggest you try out:

Where To Stay

The Lin Beach House- Over the weekend, I stayed at this super chic, super trendy, instagramable boutique hotel. It was beyonndddddd cute and I absolutely loved everything about it. The whole house has high ceilings- even in the bedrooms- which made everything feel airy and bright. Walking into The Lin Beach House, basically every corner of the hotel was instagram-worthy with hipster-beach vibes, including the room I stayed in. I'm a huge lover of all-white rooms and that's exactly what this bedroom was. The room was amazing with boho accents incorporated throughout the space, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and separate bath...annnnnddddd a balcony with a seating area overlooking the Kontokos Vineyard. Overall, everything was beyond clean, very mod, and a place I would 100% go back to again.

  • 5 minute walk from Kontokos Vineyard and Winery

  • 10 minute walk from Pebbles Beach

  • 15 minute walk from down town shops and restaurants

  • Easy booking through AirB&B

The Manhaden- I am planning to go back to Greenport this fall and definitely want to experience staying at this boutique hotel. It's in the center of the downtown area, has a roof deck, and complimentary bikes. Essentially, everything a basic girl could ask for.

American Beech Hotel- This hotel is also in the downtown center of Greenport and has an attached boutique and restaurant on the street level. Obviously when in town, you'll want to explore and walk around but this boutique hotel offers the chance to simply roll out of bed to the convenience of shopping and food all within one block. Again, like the other hotels I've mentioned, this one of course is also super trendy. I suggest checking out the cocktail and oyster bar Black Llama if you visit, too.

Where To Beach

When looking up, "beaches near me" when in Greenport...remember, in fact, you are surrounded by beaches. No brainer right? Anyway, as for recommendations, I ended up going to Pebbles Beach which was only a 10 minute walk from The Lins Beach House. It was a gorgeous beach via access from a long staircase. The beach was very rocky but it felt a little bit more private and calm then a typical sandy beach. Loved it.

...but if you are looking for more of a sandy beaches, try out Town Beach or Norman E. Klipp Marrine Park- both beaches are great for relaxing but with a little more wave action than Pebbles Beach. :)

Where To Drink

Well...besides everywhere, here are two suggestions for drinks and a light bite:

Kontokosta Winery- Also known as the North Fork Winery, Kontokosta was the perfect vineyard overlooking Pebbles Beach. Literally a five minute walk from The Lins Beach House, this winery was probably one of the most relaxing things I did over the weekend. Either make a reservation or walk on over, this winery was perfect for sipping on some wine along with a side of cheese and crackers.

American Beech Lounge- This place was super chic, specifically the area dedicated to just drinks and apps. I have no other way to explain this besides saying, I sat inside of an acorn. Yes, I'm talking about the nut that squirrels eat. It basically was a lounge bed with pillows enclosed by wicker...in the shape of an acorn. I have no clue why I found this so fun but sitting inside of it was a blast. I also drank frosés while I was there, which are essentially the adult-version of a slushy (it's frozen rosé) to complete the experience of sitting inside of a nut. Overall, the vibes were great and the cocktails were amazing so indeed, I highly recommend checking out this place with a group of friends.

Lucharitos- Lucharitos was a cute taqueria and tequila bar located just one block away from the bay. If you're looking for a quick bite with good drinks, this place is perfect. It serves classic quac, various taco options, and margaritas with a handful of flavors to choose from. So, if your looking for a trust-worthy spot you know that'll have good food and good drinks, Lucharitos is the spot to go.

Where To Eat

Greenport's downtown has countless restaurant options to choose from, so your choice will depend on what your in the mood for. Offering seafood, Mexican, Italian, Asian, or American (I'm definitely missing some categories here) you can spend some time walking up and down the streets before making your final pick. I assume all options are great but here are the ones I specifically recommend:

Ankor- This restaurant is great if you're looking for something a little more fancier. It serves seafood and has a really good wine and beer selection. Ankor has seating everywhere from inside with opened windows, street-side seating to a covered roof deck with beautiful views of the bay. If you love seafood, you'll definitely need to check out their sea bar, as well!

Agave Grille and Cantina- As time goes on and I post more, you'll get the hint that I'm a huge lover of mexican food, so of course, when I was away I tried out Agave. This spot has a perfect location overlooking the bay where you can see beautiful yachts and watch the sun set. The food here was amazing from the guacamole, chipotle chicken and shrimp, to the sizzling hot fajitas. If you find yourself on Front Street, the auroma of spices will lead you the rest of the way to this lovely eatery.

When looking for weekend getaway ideas, I'm hoping from this post you'll consider North Fork. Keep in mind for your next safe travel, this charming beach location is not a far drive for a two/three day vacation.

Go with friends, go with family, go as a couple- I really think this spot can be enjoyed by all.

xoxo,

han
